Hakeem Nicks: ‘I still view myself as the best receiver in the league’
By Hayden Kane
Hakeem Nicks has struggled the last few years, but the Indianapolis Colts’ wideout still considers himself to be the best in the NFL.
Jerricho Cotchery, Jarius Wright, Pierre Thomas. Oh nothing, just listing a few of the 81 players in the NFL with more receptions than Hakeem Nicks. If you find receiving yards to be a more palatable measure, then Nicks currently ranks 119th in the NFL.

If statistical evidence from an admittedly small sample size isn’t your jam, let’s make this simple and use our common sense. Hakeem Nicks isn’t the best wide receiver in the NFL. He’s not even the best wide receiver on his own team. He is probably, arguably, the third best wide receiver on the Colts.
That did not stop Nicks from expressing his continued confidence in himself to the Indianapolis Star:
"“I still view myself as the best receiver in the league,” he said.“That expectation ain’t never going to change,” he said. “I’ll get a chance to prove it eventually.”"
With respect for Nicks and the fact that professional athletes always strive to be the very best at their craft, his expectation probably should change. And no, he’s probably not going to get a lot of chances to prove it.
Put it this way. Andrew Luck is playing the best football of any quarterback in the NFL right now. If Nicks doesn’t shine with Luck throwing him the ball, then it’s never going to happen. His chance is now, frankly, and Nicks should probably spend less time talking about it and more time doing it.

Well, people aren’t going to like hearing this, but I’m going to say this anyway. Hakeem Nicks is not the best wide receiver in the league.
