Brian Hoyer Wants LeBron James To Hop On Cleveland Browns Bandwagon
By Cory Buck
NFL QB Brian Hoyer suggested that NBA star LeBron James start rooting for the Cleveland Browns.
The Cleveland Browns are a surprising 3-2, which is huge for Cleveland, but not such big news for fans of, say, the Dallas Cowboys. That’s why Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer tossed out a subtle suggestion that fellow Ohio-native LeBron James consider adopting the Browns, even perhaps as a second team, if nothing else for the sake of local solidarity.

USA Today reports that LeBron James, a noted Dallas Cowboys fan, posted a picture of himself proudly smiling in Cowboys gear. Who can blame him after the ‘Boys upset the defending champion Seattle Seahawks on their own turf to move to 5-1? Hoyer doesn’t begrudge James his choice of #1 teams.
“He’s a year older than me, the Browns left when he was a kid, too,” Hoyer told USA Today. “You have to cheer for someone.”
Hoyer was then asked if LeBron should consider rooting for the Browns as well, given the team’s resurgence in the last few weeks. To that, Hoyer only offered a tongue-in-cheek answer with a smile. “Hopefully, we can bring him around to it.”
LeBron James has been tied to the Browns in just about every manner of speculation. Remember a few years ago when people wondered whether LeBron could play in the NFL? Everyone envisioned him as the tight end of the Browns or something similar. Meanwhile, LeBron has always been a Dallas Cowboys fan, which makes things awkward for the rumor mongers.
Still, LeBron has gotten smarter about his public image since The Decision and it stands to reason that if the Browns continue on their roll, we could see LeBron donning a Browns hat or jersey down the road. After all, it’s not like the Browns and Cowboys would face off, unless *gulp* they each made the Super Bowl. Crazier things have happened.
