Emerging as one of the premier tight ends in the NFL, Dennis Pitta looked to be on his way to stardom for the Baltimore Ravens though a devastating hip injury wiped out his 2013 season.
Thankfully Pitta was eventually cleared and returned to the Ravens during training camp when he suffered yet another broken hip come Week 3 of the regular season.
Understandably the injuries have become a major cause of concern and Dennis Pitta is reportedly still a few months away from knowing if he’ll be able to play football again.
“In a few months, we’ll see how I’m feeling and how things are going, and we’ll be able to make some determinations then,” Pitta said, via the Baltimore Sun. “It’s still too early to kind of tell, and I’ll continue on like I did last year and get myself ready to get back on the field.”
There was doubt that Dennis Pitta could return to the game he loves after suffering his first hip injury but now after suffering his second, that worry has only grown.
Of course thanks to the advancement in medical technology, Dennis Pitta will have a much better chance of playing in the NFL than he would have even ten years ago. Still, there becomes a point when the tight end has to think about his family and future outside of football.
What would happen if the Pro Bowl level talent was to inexplicably suffer yet another devastating injury? It seems improbable but suffering two fractured and dislocated hips in consecutive seasons isn’t exactly a good bet to happen either.
Hopefully Pitta will be comfortable and happy with whatever decision he does end up making.
