For much of Sunday morning reports across the NFL have suggested that Josh Gordon of the Cleveland Browns would likely only see 25 to 30 snaps upon his return from a ten-game suspension.
That appeared to jive with reports from earlier in the week when the Browns coaching staff suggested that Gordon would have to earn his playing time and would likely be eased back in. Such made sense considering Josh Gordon, despite being allowed at the Cleveland Browns facility couldn’t do much other than catch balls off the JUGS machine and workout on his own.
Still, this is a player who ended up leading the NFL in receiving yards last year despite playing in 14 games and has himself stated a desire to torment opposing defenses.
Now FOX’s Jay Glazer seems to believe the talk of Josh Gordon seeing the sidelines more than he prefers is nothing but a smokescreen and the Cleveland Browns plan to “unleash” their star wide receiver.
At this point there’s really no reason not to allow Josh Gordon to play as much as he wants. If he’s feeling good and can handle more than the 25-30 snaps the Cleveland Browns were aiming to play him, let him stay on the field.
It’s not as if he hasn’t been able to stay in shape and while he may not be in ‘game condition’, Gordon is a freak of an athlete and will have his adrenaline going at an extremely high level.
If he’s out there and performing well, the Cleveland Browns would be only hurting themselves by limiting his snap count to a predetermined number.
