The Portuguese forward has been in top form this season and it was a shock occurrence when he lashed out on Saturday, kicking another player. The incident sent shock waves across the soccer world as he could have been sent off earlier in the game for an incident the referee didn’t pick up.
However, the incident the referee did see cost Ronaldo dearly and nearly cost Real Madrid as they needed a late Gareth Bale goal to beat the lower opposition.
One superstar saved some added blushes of another.
“Kicking an opponent with the ball not within playing distance” was the definition of the offence that results in Cristiano missing games against Real Sociedad and Sevilla. The man who many deem to be the best player in the world will be back to play against Atletico Madrid on February 7th which will be a huge game to determine the league standings, in addition to the pride of the Madrid derby.
This is the fifth time Ronaldo has been sent off, and early in his career he was never too far away from controversy.
However, since hitting the heights of his current standings, he has been on his best behavior. This was a bolt from the blue and no can explain why he lashed out in a regular league game.
