On Valentine’s Day, Leroux and Sporting Kansas City player Dom Dwyer announced that they are married. In fact, the couple was privately married back in January, but picked Valentine’s Day to make the announcement for a very special reason.

Sydney Leroux wears No. 2 for her club, Seattle Reign. Dwyer wears No. 14 for his club, Sporting K.C.

So, it made sense for the couple to make their big announcement on 2/14… Valentine’s Day.

Leroux revealed the news to People Magazine, but she also sent out a series of messages on social media that revealed the name “Dwyer” on the back of her jersey.

How adorable.

“Juggling our careers and relationship is very difficult, which is why we decided to wed privately in January,” Leroux and Dwyer said in a statement, via People.com. “We wanted to announce our marriage at an appropriate time when we were together and at a time that suited our families. We also wanted to make sure that we told all of our close friends and teammates before we announced it publicly.

“We just bought a house in Kansas City and are planning on celebrating our marriage with close friends and family after the World Cup. We couldn’t be happier and can’t wait to start our lives together!”

Leroux will be joining the United States women’s national team in Canada this summer for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Team USA begins competition June 8 against Australia in Winnipeg.
