A look at five players the Dallas Cowboys should target in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Perhaps the team that made the most steps forward in the 2014 NFL season was the Dallas Cowboys. One of the key components of building a franchise and a team that can contend for a Super Bowl is to have good drafts. The main reason why the Cowboys were 12-4 and just minutes away from a trip to the NFC Championship Game was because of their offensive line.

Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin made up one of the best positional groups in the NFL. Interestingly enough, all three of these players were drafted by the Cowboys. Each move wasn’t sexy at all, but the Cowboys have spent three of their last four first-round picks on offensive linemen.

That being said, if teams draft correctly and make the right decisions, it can lead to success.

Over the past few years, the Cowboys have had excellent skill players. Guys like Dez Bryant, DeMarco Murray, Jason Witten — heck, even Miles Austin and Laurent Robinson — have thrived in Dallas.

However, the Cowboys were never able to make that leap into a playoff team. But with their offensive line coming together in 2014, the Cowboys were not only a playoff team, but also a team that was one of the bests in all of football.

Now that the Cowboys have made it clear that they’re a team to be reckoned with in the NFC, the main thing they have to do this offseason is build their defense. With the Cowboys letting DeMarco Murray test free agency, they need to prepare to watch him leave. And although they will miss his production, many running backs can have success behind this offensive line.

Many mock drafts have said that the Cowboys will go after a stud running back like Melvin Gordon or Todd Gurley in this year’s draft, however, the Cowboys are in win-now mode and the need is there for them to find an immediate-impact player.

For the Cowboys to make that jump into a Super Bowl contender, they will need to keep adding talent at the right positions.

Given their financial situation and the way their cap is, the draft will be extremely important for the Cowboys this offseason. In this article, we name five players who the Cowboys should target in the 2015 NFL Draft.
