As if it was not already official, but Jim Harbaugh is a rock star. Actually, we should probably qualify that just a tad bit. The former Michigan Wolverines quarterback and current head coach has taken the city of Ann Arbor by storm since his arrival back in town. He will be entrusted with the task of restoring one of NCAA football‘s most historically iconic programs to national prominence.
When he is not busy with day to day team operations, Harbaugh spends his time creating a brand of fun that can attract young players towards UM for years to come. This picture of him sporting a cap given to him by rapper G.
The self-proclaimed “devout fan” of Judge Judy has built up quite the resume of eccentric behavior over the past few months. From turning prom proposals into recruiting pitches, to quoting his former running back during his time with the San Francisco 49ers, to his unwavering support of Pope Francis on Twitter, Harbaugh has wasted little time in reaffirming his presence at the collegiate level.
All he needs to do now is win. That should be the easy part, right? After all, that is what he was originally hired on to do, more so than anything else. And based on his history, both in the NFL and in college, all indications lead to a resurgent Michigan team in 2015.
Heck, even the guy’s headware agrees with him. This should be “EAZY” as pie. Well, not quite.
In actuality, Michigan’s recruiting class for 2015 ranked just 50th in the nation, this according to Rivals.com. There is also the fact that the Wolverines were mediocre on offense and slightly above average on defense, finishing 112th in passing (170.2), 64th in rushing (162.8), 112th in average points scored (20.9), and 27th (22.4) in average points against last season.
With a tough out of conference schedule which will see them play Utah and BYU, they could easily head into Big Ten play at 2-2 or worse. Reigning national champion Ohio State as well as, in state rival MSU provide for two opponents ranked inside the top five of the final Associated Press and Coaches polls in 2014.
