Former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson is making his rounds in the state of Florida, this time paying a visit to Gainesville

Former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson paid a visit to the Florida Gators on Tuesday, according to Andy Staples at SI.com. This visit comes just one day after the news that the fifth-year senior had visited the rival Florida State Seminoles.

Golson announced his decision to transfer from the Fighting Irish last week, making it very clear that Brian Kelly had decided on Malik Zaire as their starting quarterback going forward.

As for his visit on Tuesday to Gainesville, it’s definitely an interesting one, especially seeing as Golson may have an issue transferring to SEC schools because of his suspension in 2013. New language in the rules states that a player with disciplinary issues may be blocked from a transfer, however, Golson could apply for a waiver.

Florida would seem a likely destination, though. New head coach Jim McElwain is bringing a new offensive philosophy to the table with the Gators, one completely different from what Will Muschamp had in place while he was there. Entertaining a visit from Golson shows that the confidence might not be there for Sophomore Treon Harris or redshirt freshman Will Grier in regards to running the offense in 2015.

Golson led Notre Dame to an undefeated 12-0 season in the 2012 campaign and an appearance in the BCS National Championship Game, where he and the Irish were blown out by Alabama, 42-14. He was suspended for the duration of the 2013 season following academic issues. He returned to the team last season, appearing in 13 games, throwing for 3,445 yards and 29 touchdowns. However, he battled through turnover issues, tossing 14 interceptions as well.

The first sign that Golson might be on the outs as the starter were in the Music City Bowl, a game in which Kelly decided on Zaire as the man under center against LSU. Notre Dame would go on to win that match up.
