On Monday there was some pretty horrific video that surfaced online, video that showed Florida State freshman quarterback De’Andre Johnson violently striking a woman in a Tallahassee bar. This came on the heels of reports last month that the incident took place.

Well, after that video was released, it didn’t take Florida State and head coach Jimbo Fisher all that long to decide that his services on the team were no longer needed. In a statement released by the school on Monday, it was officially announced that Johnson has been dismissed form the Florida State Seminoles football program.

"“Florida State head football coach Jimbo Fisher announced Monday evening that freshman De’Andre Johnson has been dismissed from the football team effective immediately. Johnson was indefinitely suspended on June 25 following initial reports of an incident that occurred off campus and resulted in a criminal charge.”"

This wasn’t just the right move to make — it was the only move to make. In that disgusting video that was released, Johnson got into an altercation with a young woman at an establishment, and it resulted in him striking her in the face about as hard as he can swing. It was tough to watch just one time, and it was quick to figure out that it wouldn’t be long before we received this news that we have on Monday night.

While not many gave him a chance to ultimately win out, Johnson was set to compete for the Florida State starting job under center, taking over for the departed Jameis Winston.
