Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer apparently didn’t think all too highly of the East Carolina game anyway

Saturday afternoon the Virginia Tech Hokies fell to 2-2 on the season, and this second loss of the season was to a team not in one of the Power-5 conferences. This team suffered a loss to East Carolina, which raised some more eyebrows from a lot of people in regards to this team that some picked coming into a season as maybe a favorite in the ACC Coastal Division.

Well, it seems that Frank Beamer isn’t all too worried because these games really don’t mean anything anyway.

On Sunday when speaking about these non-conference games, the longtime leader of the Hokies referred to them simply as “exhibitions.”

Now, to an extent, is Beamer wrong? Not necessarily. Generally, yes, these games are scheduled as exhibitions for the most part. However, you’re not supposed to lose these games. Is Virginia Tech out of the running for that ACC division title? Technically, they’re not yet. But what we’ve seen so far really doesn’t convince anyone that they can get the job done.

How this sits with Hokies fans that are ready for the program to return back to prominence, though, remains to be seen.
