After turning down an offer from German club, Werder Bremen, earlier in the week, American international, Jordan Morris, has inked a deal with the Seattle Sounders.

Stanford sensation, Jordan Morris, has generated hype that we may never have seen from an American college soccer player before. Not only was he able to earn a spot on the national team before even turning pro, he was also able to garner interest from clubs across Europe.

Earlier in the week, it was revealed that Morris had turned down an offer from Bundesliga club, Werder Bremen, after spending time on a training stint with the team. Werder Bremen’s sporting director, Thomas Eichin, said that the youngster envisioned his future in America, and on Thursday that was confirmed.

The Seattle Sounders declared that they had officially signed the 21-year-old to the most lucrative Homegrown Player contract in Major League Soccer history.

“Today we’re excited and proud to officially welcome Jordan back into the Sounders FC organization,” said Seattle owner Adrian Hanauer, in a team statement, via MLSSoccer.com. “Jordan and his family have a long history with our organization, so it’s a pleasure to make him the seventh Homegrown Player in club history. As one of the most promising US Soccer prospects in recent memory, we’re thrilled to have him join the club as we move into our eighth season in Major League Soccer.”

2015 had been a disappointing season for the Sounders, as they failed to get past the second round of the MLS playoffs. Morris could make his debut for the club when they kick off their aggregate series against Mexican side, Club America, in the CONCACAF Champions League knockout stages on February 23rd. He’ll have to wait until March 6th to play his first MLS game though, with Seattle hosting Sporting Kansas City in their season opener.
