LeBron James commented on Northern Iowa’s epic collapse to Texas A&M, claiming he would’ve quit if he was involved in it.
Northern Iowa went from being up 12 against Texas A&M with 44 seconds left to losing in double overtime and getting eliminated from the NCAA Tournament. It’s the biggest collapse in the history of college basketball, and the players are most likely still not over it. While they will come back next year with a point to prove, LeBron James suggests that they should have other plans after being involved in something so monumentally soul-crushing:
Clearly it was a joke since the reporters laughed at his answer. Of course, James never went to college and so he doesn’t know what it’s like to experience a loss in March Madness, but with four Finals losses, it’s safe to say he’s had his fair share of heartbreak.
Northern Iowa’s loss was practically unprecedented, as this graphic shows they had a 99.9% chance of winning when they were leading by 12.

But the great thing about college basketball is that nothing is ever certain, and that anything can happen — even something that has a 0.1% chance of occurring. The Panthers should’ve known that when they won their first game on a Hail Mary buzzer-beater in the first round, but they learned the hard way that the game is 40 minutes long.
