The Cleveland Browns reportedly prefer Jared Goff to Carson Wentz in the 2016 NFL Draft.

While the Cleveland Browns have the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, they have yet to decide what they are going to do with the pick. There have been reports that Cleveland has explored trading down in the first round to get more draft picks in a very deep draft. Should they choose to keep the second overall pick, even after they signed quarterback Robert Griffin III in the offseason, don’t be surprised to see them draft a quarterback.

Which quarterback will Cleveland draft? According to Jason LaCanfora, it will most likely be University of California quarterback Jared Goff instead of North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz.

From CBS Sports:

"Goff is also the preferred choice by many in the analytics community as well. The Browns have spent increasingly more money on the Pro Football Focus resources in the last year, and the PFF crowd prefers Goff."

Cleveland is reportedly concerned that Carson Wentz simply compiled stats in college while facing clearly inferior competition while Goff has been battle tested in the Pac 12. While the Pac 12 is not the juggernaut conference that the SEC is, it’s still a very competitive conference. Goff also ran a pro-style offense while with the University of California while Wentz did not run a pro-style offense. Wentz is known more for his strong-arm and his size while Goff is more known for his accuracy and intelligence.
