The latest rumor surrounding the 2016 NFL Draft has the Cleveland Browns trading down in the first round.

Thanks to a 3-13 record during the 2015 season, the Cleveland Browns are the owners of the second overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. Recent rumors have them drafting a quarterback with the second overall pick even after signing former Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III. But could they trade down in the first round and worry about drafting their quarterback in the second round?

Cleveland has a ton of needs, including quarterback. Anything that involves them getting more draft picks in the first two rounds should be something that the Browns explore and consider. While Cleveland has not had much luck in the draft as of late, in this NFL Draft, there’s a lot of talent to be had in the first two rounds. It will be difficult for even Cleveland to find a way to screw up  getting an extra draft pick or two in the first two or three rounds.

Griffin should be the starter for the next two seasons, so that means that Cleveland can afford to take a chance on a quarterback such as Paxton Lynch. He’s a developmental player at this point, but Lynch has a ton of potential and would benefit from sitting on the sidelines for the next two seasons as he gets groomed to be a NFL starting quarterback. With tons of talent in this draft, Cleveland should definitely explore trading down if they can.
