Peyton Manning took part in Comedy Central’s roast of actor Rob Lowe, and he took an opportunity to poke fun at Tom Brady.

As reflected in his latest TV ads, Peyton Manning is certainly looking for things to do now that his NFL playing career is over. It’s probably only a matter of time before he’s involved in an ownership or front office role with a team, but it’s understandable if Manning takes a break from football for a while. On that note, Comedy Central recently hosted a roast of actor Rob Lowe and Manning took part.

Having been cleared of recent, fairly flimsy, cheating allegations of his own, Manning took the opportunity to poke fun at another recent NFL scandal.

The setting, tone and television channel has to be kept in mind here, for those that may want to take Manning’s comment about Brady for more than what it is. The fairly unlikely friendship the two have, as partially chronicled in New York Daily News columnist Gary Myers’ book from a couple years ago, should also be noted.

Brady may be asked soon, by a supposedly intrepid local media member, about what Manning said. He’ll surely take the high road, while offering another reminder about the casual, comedic setting the comments came in. It might be fun for some people to see Brady take serious offense, and escalate the situation unnecessarily. But he’s very savvy in these matters, and he’s far more likely to offer a public quip back to Manning about retirement, general boredom and the like.
