Pokemon GO fever, wave two, has gripped the world now that 80 new Pokemon have been released in the mobile game. Here’s the knowledge you’ll need to continue being the greatest that no one ever was.

This past Thursday, Pokemon GO added Generation 2 Pokemon into the game. Previously, only a few Gen 2 Pokemon had been available in-game and they had all been “baby” Pokemon obtainable through hatching eggs.

Now that Pokemon GO has expanded to include Pokemon from the Johto region, popularity of the game has skyrocketed.

In addition to new Pokemon, Pokemon GO has added new gameplay items to help players in their quest to obtain both new and old Pokemon. Among these items are two new Berries to use when in the act of catching Pokemon.

Nanab Berries in particular are used to calm Pokemon down, making the Pokemon less erratic and easier to catch. Nanab Berries look like a brunch of bananas, except the bananas are bright pink.

While this Berry may seem superfluous, recent changes to the game actually make this Berry quite useful in certain instances. Certain Pokemon now move around much more than they used to when players attempt to catch them. This is especially true for Flying or Bug Pokemon in Gen 2. It also applies to those Pokemon who tend to jump often.

Nanab Berries settle the Pokemon down, lessening and slowing their movements, affording players better aim when attempting to catch them.

Nanab Berries can be obtained from PokeStops. They can be selected to use from the new item carousel interface which appears when engaging with Pokemon and attempting to capture them.
