Romelu Lukaku has decided on his next move, but will he be going back to Chelsea or somewhere else?

Rumors of Romelu Lukaku’s return to Chelsea have been swirling for months. Chelsea have been viewed as leaders for the Belgian, but Manchester United and Bayern Munich have also shown interest. Juventus have recently joined the discussion as well.

After scoring 25 goals in the Premier League this season, Lukaku has become one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe. Early Tuesday morning, Lukaku announced he and another club have reached an agreement.

The 24-year-old is dropping hints like crazy. However, he has kept his mouth shut and not revealed his future plans to the media. This poses the question, will Lukaku be going to Chelsea?

That remains to be seen, but one thing seems sure: he will not return to Everton. The current striker turned down the club’s record offer to keep him at Goodison Park. Now, he has stated that he reached an agreement with “another” club.

In an interview following Belgium’s friendly against the Czech Republic, Lukaku spoke on his future. The Belgian hinted at his interest to not only play Champions League soccer, but to win the Premier League. Sorry Bayern and Juve. Hypothetically, that leaves just two options: Chelsea and Manchester United.

In recent years, Lukaku to Chelsea rumors have become as prevalent as Paul-Pogba-to-Manchester-United rumors were last summer. Lukaku, a former Chelsea player, has always held a special place in his heart for the London club. He’s said to be Antonio Conte’s top target. With Diego Costa’s future becoming more and more uncertain, Chelsea would love nothing more than to lock up Lukaku’s signature. Lukaku teased reporters with a wink and a smile when asked if he was returning to Chelsea. He also began following Chelsea players on social media.

Despite heavy rumors of his return to Stamford Bridge, Lukaku has ties to Old Trafford as well. His agent, Mino Raiola, helped Pogba return to United last summer. The Red Devils’ manager, Jose Mourinho, is also keen on the forward. Recently, Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban seems to have put off Antoine Griezmann’s move to Old Trafford. Mourinho may have have shifted his focus to signing Lukaku as a result.

While a move to United doesn’t seem far-fetched, a return to Chelsea seems more likely right now. With an agreement between Lukaku and a club allegedly reached, all that is left to do is sit and wait.
