30. Eric Djemba-Djemba

Perhaps the most relatable name in this list is former Manchester United player Eric Djemba-Djemba. The player from Cameroon secured a dream move to United in 2003 after an impressive spell with French club Nantes.

Sir Alex Ferguson believed Djemba-Djemba had the potential to be the next Roy Keane but the decorated manager couldn’t have been more wrong. In 18 months with the Red Devils, the Cameroonian managed only 20 appearances as he struggled to get to grips with the speed of the Premier League.

This is where his journeyman career truly began, as he was offloaded to Aston Villa in 2005. Since then, Djemba-Djemba has played for 10 different clubs — some of which he only made a handful of appearances for. He’s played in India, Serbia, Qatar and more but it’s unlikely that he’ll ever be remembered for anything else than his failed period with Manchester United.

Djemba-Djemba is currently plying his trade in Switzerland’s fifth tier with FC Vallorbe-Ballaigues.
