New Orleans Pelicans Says Eric Gordon Trade Rumors Are False

Isn’t this like the dreaded vote of confidence?

Whatever the case, according to Jimmy Smith, sources say that the rumors surrounding a trade of New Orleans Pelicans guard Eric Gordon are nothing more than that, rumors, and that they have no merit.

Per Smith:

"Source says rumors regarding possible Eric Gordon trade by #pelicans have no merit."

Gordon, who was traded to the Pelicans in the Chris Paul deal is an extremely talented player when he’s on the court, it’s just that staying on the court seems to be his issue.

The former Indiana Hoosier has played five seasons in the NBA, only playing over 62 games once – his rookie season in Los Angeles. Since then, Gordon has only played in 169 of a possible 328 games and after signing a 4 year, near $60 million dollar contract, rumors have suggested the Pelicans want to rid themselves of the talented, though oft-injured shooting guard.

Given his hefty contract and injury history, it’s going to be difficult to find a willing partner who’ll take on Gordon for anything less than another bad contract, so it could be that the Pelicans would rather attempt to get Gordon healthy and then potentially try and move the Indiana native.
