Warriors Jerry West Says He’s Not Helping The Sacramento Kings
By Bryan Rose
Currently an adviser for the Golden State Warriors, NBA legend Jerry West wants it to be known – he is not helping the Sacramento Kings – despite a handful of reports that have stated otherwise.
West has a somewhat close relationship with new Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, who previously was part owner of the Warriors and reports suggested that West was assisting Ranadive in getting the Kings front office up and running.
That is not the case, at least according to West, who says the rumors are very, very, annoying:
"“Chris Wallace is from West Virginia (like West), but listen, I have nothing to do with anything going on up (in Sacramento),” West said. “This is very, very annoying. It is annoying. Whoever Vivek hires, he’s got to feel good about that person, and I’m not there (with the Kings).”"
Of course, West is no stranger to either Chris Wallace or Travis Schlenk, both of whom are considered the two favorites for the Kings’ general manager job. Wallace was hired under West’s eye during his tenure in Memphis while Schlenk is currently a highly ranked member of the Warriors front office.
Add all of the pieces together and it certainly seems like West has a little bit more to do with the situation than he wants it to seem, irritating or not.
