First it’s near completion. Then it’s dead. Then it’s only partially dead. Then it’s fully dead. Then it’s back on. Then it’s almost dead. Then back on.

It’s the trade that just wont go away and according to a report from Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers, despite the deal reportedly being on life support yesterday, continue to attempt to make it work.

Per Wojo:

"Celtics and Clippers are still engaging on a Doc Rivers-Kevin Garnett deal and hope remains of finding an agreement, league sources tell Y!The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers are discussing possible compromises to including guard Eric Bledsoe into the Kevin Garnett-Doc Rivers deal with hopes of completing an agreement on Monday, league sources told Yahoo! Sports."

It’s worth noting that Rivers can’t actually be traded, simply released from his contract in Boston – but clearly the two sides are still trying to hammer out some type of deal. There was no mention of Paul Pierce being involved in such a trade, but given his elevated salary, including him would be difficult. The more likely scenario, assuming Rivers is released and Garnett is traded, would be for Pierce to be bought out and to sign as a free agent with the Clippers if the reports that the three want to remain together are true.

Sleep easy, DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe, sleep easy.
