A devastating blow to the Denver Broncos as it’s being reported that center J.D. Walton will miss the entire 2013 season after undergoing another ankle operation.
Per Jeff Legwold:
"#Broncos center J.D. Walton has had an additional surgery on his ankle this week. Is expected to miss season. A tough deal for him."
Dan Koppen, who filled in for Walton last season was let go in free agency, leaving the Broncos with few possible alternatives on their roster. Thankfully, Koppen is still available but the backup center was league average at best last year, a significant drop from the talented Walton.
There are rumors that the Broncos could attempt to play Chris Kuper at center, though Kuper’s never played a game at the position and the team is worried about him struggling there.
As for Walton, who never missed a game prior to last year when he was injured in Week 4, his future will certainly get a bit more murky and cloudy after missing nearly two consecutive seasons of action.
