The Miami Dolphins loaded up with free agents this offseason. One of whom was former Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes. Coincidentally, the Dolphins host Grimes’ former team in their home opener. But for Grimes, it’s just another game.
“If you know me, people are going to make a bigger deal about that than I will,” Grimes said, via theFinsiders.com. “It’s just another game.”
He changed his tune a little bit.
“It’s more, honestly it’s your old team, but it’s not like I left Atlanta with a bad taste or they were mad at me,” Grimes said. “It was just free agent and another team wanted you to come, you chose them. I still like everybody on the team. I talk to a few coaches. It’s not like we’ve got a vendetta or I’m trying to go out here and kill everybody. It’s just they’re trying to make plays, they’re trying to win, I’m trying to win, I want to play well. It will be just like any other game, after kickoff. I mean before the kickoff I will see everybody. Hey what’s up? But after it’s kicked off, it’s just I’m trying to win, they’re trying to win.”
But playing the NFC South teams this year might help out Grimes.
“Yeah, obviously I played in the NFC South my whole career, I was on the Atlanta Falcons and I’ve seen what all these teams like to do, I mean of course there are new wrinkles ever year so you can’t just go out there and say you know what exactly they are about to do, but it’s cool to see and you’ve played against these teams before and you know the personnel pretty much. You know, it’s a good advantage.”
