MLB trade deadline 2013: San Francisco Giants to keep Hunter Pence, Tim Lincecum?
By Bryan Rose
While the San Francisco Giants have certainly had their fair share of phone calls in regards to both Hunter Pence and Tim Lincecum, it appears unlikely either will be moved – this according to Henry Shulman of SFGate.com.
Per Shulman:
"Meanwhile, all is quiet on the trade front for the Giants as today’s 1 p.m. PDT approaches.Javier Lopez said he’s heard nothing and joked, “Me for Verlander, straight up.”Also, Hunter Pence and Tim Lincecum have heard nothing about potential deals. As one person put it, “Radio silence.”"
The ‘silence’ as it’s put is significant due to the fact that Lincecum has a partial no-trade clause. If a move was in the works, Lincecum would most likely need to be informed prior assuming it was to a team on his partial no-trade list.
As for Pence, the Giants have come out and hinted that they feel getting a draft pick for Hunter through free agency is more lucrative than the offers they’ve received for the outfielder. In addition, rival teams have said that the Giants are looking for Major League ready talent in return for reliever Javier Lopez, a price deemed far too high for opposing clubs.
All in all, it’s sounding as if the deadline will be relatively quiet for the San Francisco Giants.
