It seems like LeBron James enjoys the spotlight, despite his declaration that he tires of it.
From wavering on his intent to join the NBA Slam Dunk contest to the ‘Decision’, James is continually flip flopping on his intentions and he’s done it yet again, this time pertaining to the players union.
James was expected to run for president of the Players union, though, has ultimately decided he doesn’t have the time, citing that the union is ‘not in a good place right now’.
Per USA Today:
"After days of careful consideration and research, Miami Heat star LeBron James decided he will not run for president or first vice president of the National Basketball Players Association, a person familiar with James’ decision told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about James’ plans.Interested in union matters and the direction of the NBPA, James had considered both executive committee positions comprised of players but concluded he would not have enough time at this point in his career to give the positions the necessary attention they require. James called Heat teammate and NBPA secretary-treasurer James Jones on Monday and told him of his decision."
In fairness to James, his points are correct. The union isn’t doing well right now and no player in the league will have less time than James, so keeping that off his plate is a good decision for all parties involved.
