Man, talk about a fall from grace.
After a near 1200 yard rushing season with 13 touchdowns (total) in 2010, Peyton Hillis’ career hasn’t been on a downward trend, it’s been on a free fall.
Hillis missed a significant portion of the 2011 season with injury before the Cleveland Browns decided to move on. Hillis then signed with the Kansas City Chiefs (probably not the best situation) to backup Jamaal Charles, which didn’t work out so well.
He thought he might get a chance in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers, but that too failed as today, the Bucs released the former Madden cover boy.
Per Jason La Confora:
"The Bucs are releasing RB Peyton Hillis"
From the cover of Madden to out of a job in less than three seasons.
He’ll continue to look for a backup job, though, considering he was pushed to the end of the Bucs’ depth chart (and became expendable) it’s hard to see Hillis making any type of impact, even if he signs with another team.
