Most coaches donāt really enjoy calling quarterback sneaks, especially near the goal line. Sure, there are exceptions and itās something many coaches are more comfortable doing when they have an athletic quarterback on the roster, but Detroit Lions signal caller Matthew Stafford doesnāt really strike most as the most athletically gifted quarterback.
Not only do you fear an injury considering all the big bodies that are falling on top of each other, but you also fear a turnover, much like what nearly happened for Stafford and the Lions as they took on the Chicago Bearsā front seven.
As the Lions were lined up at the goal line, Stafford was called upon to leap over the pile in a quarterback sneak and thatās exactly what he did, though, he lost the ball in the process.
No worries though as Stafford simply grabbed the ball out of mid-air, before pushing his way into the end zone for a touchdown.
Still counts the same, even if it wasnāt the most beautiful sneak of all time.
