While New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs hadn’t practiced this week, it was still expected he’d play in Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. However, according to FOX Sports’ Mike Garafolo, that’s looking less and less likely as the hours tick away.
"Don’t expect the Giants’ running back to suit up Monday night vs. the Vikings. He’s listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, but word is he’s more doubtful."
The Giants aren’t exactly overflowing with options to replace Jacobs in the starting lineup, but if he can’t go it’s expected that rookie Michael Cox will get the start while the newly signed Peyton Hillis should likely see some snaps as well.
In short, expect a relatively heavy pass centric offense for the Giants tonight, assuming Jacobs can’t take the field.
There’s currently no word on Jacobs’ Week 8 status, though as we know with hamstrings, they can linger and be a pesky injury which takes more than a week to properly heal.
Jacobs is officially listed by the team as ‘questionable’.
