Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson plans on playing Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Falcons also released their depth chart for Sunday and it has Jackson starting ahead of Jacquizz Rodgers.
Jackson suffered a hamstring injury in week 2 against the St. Louis Rams and hasn’t played since. If he does play, it will most likely be in a limited role. Probably on all early downs, and short-yardage situations. Jacquizz Rodgers will remain the preferred back on passing downs.
Rodgers hasn’t necessarily had a big impact on the run game. he has carried the ball 60 times for 193 yards and two touchdowns. Rodgers also is averaging 3.2 yards a carry, nothing spectacular. He has performed well in the pass game though. He has 25 catches for 155 yards this season.
Last week, Rodgers helped the Falcons offense more in the passing game then the running game. He caught 8 passes for 46 yards and two touchdowns. He got 8 carries in that same game and rushed for only 16 yards.
Steven Jackson @sj39 plans on playing on Sunday vs. Arizona.
