Rey Maualuga takes hit in the head (GIF)

There was a scary scene early in the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals game. Jets running back Chris Ivory took the hand off and ran towards a crowded line of scrimmage. Waiting there was linebacker Rey Maualuga

They both got low for the hit and it looks like Maualuga got the worst of it. It is a hard angle to see what exactly happens. It doesn’t look like there was any helmet-to-helmet contact. It looks like Ivory just leads with his shoulder which goes straight into the crown of Maualuga’s helmet.

As the play continues, Maualuga looks unconscious as his body just hovers there in the pile. His head is slumped down like someone asleep in a seat in the airport. His limbs are just dangling down.

We certainly hope Maualuga is alright.
