The Atlanta Falcons’ Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was the first wide receiver Roddy White has ever missed in his 8-year NFL career. He’s now missed the last two games, and it appears he could be out again this week:
"Roddy White, who missed the last two games with hamstring and ankle injuries, was not on the field for the viewing portion of Wednesday’s practice.White was spotted walking around the locker room. The team has expressed optimism about him returning to action sooner than later. Also sidelined during practice were running back Jason Snelling and linebacker Stephen Nicholas. Snelling missed the last game with an ankle injury while Nicholas was sidelined by a quad injury."
White started the year injured, but played through his woes mostly as a decoy while notching 14 receptions for 129 yards in five games. In his absence, Harry Douglas figures to once again be Mat Ryan’s No. 1 option this week.
Without White, Douglas had become a legitimate receiver, while All-Pro tight end Tony Gonzalez has been the primary focus of opposing defenses.
