The Jacksonville Jaguars were expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Houston Texans however, were not.
Form has held true for Jacksonville, who sits at an ugly 1-9 but the same can’t be said for the Texans who after Super Bowl dreams are facing a 2-8 reality.
Both teams will square off in one of the worst games of the year this Sunday (at least record wise) but as we’ve seen before, games between teams with sub-par records don’t always translate into poor television.
For Jacksonville, they come off a 27-14 Week 11 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, though are just two weeks removed from their first victory of the season. Over-matched or not, Jacksonville has been playing better football in recent weeks, something they’ll attempt to show off in a trip to Reliant Stadium this weekend.
Meanwhile, for Houston, their season continues to morph into NFL hell. After opening the season 2-0, the Texans have dropped eight in a row and are dealing with both injury and inner-team conflict as we saw between Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson last week. Combine that with quarterback uncertainty and, well, you get a 2-8 team.
Sub-par records or not, the Jaguars and Texans should put on a sloppy though entertaining battle this weekend with the Texans finally getting back into the win column.
