Andre Miller is the guy you see at the YMCA who looks like he’s too old to play, but schools everyone when the ball is tipped. He plays under the rim, and flash is not his bread and butter.

Miller came into Saturday night’s game against the Mavericks tied with Rod Strickland for 9th on the all-time assists leaders in NBA history with 7,987. Well, now he owns the 9th spot:

Miller is one of the most underrated guys in the league, and possibly all-time. I would put him in the hall of fame, but it will be close. When it comes to old man game in the NBA, no one does it better than Andre Miller. This is a huge milestone for him, and he is now about 1,000 assists behind Gary Payton for 8th on the list.

If you want to see a rare sighting of Miller above the rim, here’s a grainy old film clip:

The Nuggets have found themselves an identity, and are playing better. Congratulations to Andre Miller.
