Corey Brewer fined $5,000 for flopping against Miami Heat (Video)

Before Saturday, the NBA had fined one player for flopping this year but that changed when Minnesota Timberwolves forward Corey Brewer took one for the team and flopped against the Miami Heat. Brewer was busted by the NBA today who handed him a $5,000 fine which will jump to $10,000 if he’s caught flopping again this season.
As you can see in the video below, the flop wasn’t that bad but it’s still something you have to shake your head at.
The only other player this season to have been fined for flopping is Houston Rockets guard James Harden who also runs the risk of a higher fine if he’s deemed a repeat offender and gets busted for a second time this season. There have been players who have been warned by officials and the NBA this season about flopping, but only two that have actually received fines.
The flopping fine is something fans and players are still debating as many are under the impression it won’t stop flopping. This is evident in the various flops that haven’t been called this year or have just received a warning. David Stern even admitted last year that the fines probably won’t stop players from flopping but when has the NBA ever been a league that turns away easy money?
