DeAngelo Williams catches screen pass, runs 60 yds, fumbles, Panthers score on pick six next play (GIF)
By Mike Dyce
The Carolina Panthers are looking to get a win to stay atop the division and in the driver’s seat for that number two seed in the NFC playoffs. They found themselves down to the lowly Atlanta Falcons 10-0 at the beginning of the second quarter.
Their fortunes seemed to be turning around when they threw this little screen pass to DeAngelo Williams. He ran about 60 yards down field before finally being caught. When he was caught, the ball was knocked loose and the Falcons recovered the ball.
It was the big play they needed until Williams fumbled. The Panthers defense stepped up on the very next play though. Matt Ryan threw a short pass to the left side behind the receiver and it was picked off by Melvin White. He stumbled yards short of the end zone but crawled in for the touchdown to narrow the lead.
