Head coach Rex Ryan will be back, but what about safety Ed Reed?

The former Miami product was picked up by the New York Jets in the middle of the season, this after Reed was released by the Houston Texans.

Reed was far from impressive during his relatively short stint with the Jets, but he still feels as if he has the skills to play at a high level and wants to return next season (despite retirement lingering in the back of his head):

"At Jets, where Ed Reed says retiring is “always a possibility,” but he’d like return. Says his own expectations are higher than media’s."

Reed, who called out the Houston Texans coaching staff earlier this season was burned multiple times in coverage with the Jets – though in fairness did finish up the season on a positive note, hauling in an interception in Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins. That said – his play left a lot to be desired.

There’s no word on if the Jets have a mutual interest in Reed returning.
