NBA rumors: Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul want to play together
By Bryan Rose
You may recall back in 2010 when Chris Paul was still a member of the New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans), he wanted to join forces with Carmelo Anthony who recently had been acquired by the New York Knicks.
Paul was a guest at Anthony’s wedding and he reportedly made a toast to a would-be ‘Big Three’ in New York that would have featured Anthony, Paul and Amar’e Stoudemire.
Of course, Paul was eventually traded to the Los Angeles Clippers leaving Melo and STAT behind in New York.
But just because Paul is across country, that hasn’t stopped the friends from wanting to play together – this according to ESPN’s Ian Begley:
"That brings us to the Clippers. Anthony and Paul have long expressed a desire to play with one another. This dates back to Anthony’s wedding in 2010 when Paul suggested in a toast that he’d come to New York to form a “Big Three” with Paul, Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire.According to sources, Anthony and Paul’s desire to play with one another has never waned."
Begley adds a bit more fuel to the fire, suggesting that Melo already has a home in the Los Angeles area and says his wife, LaLa spends a good portion of her time in Southern California due to her work schedule.
Of course, the Clippers have no financial wiggle room and couldn’t sign Anthony outright, so the only way Carmelo would land on the Clippers would be via a trade.
