MLB trade rumors: Boston Red Sox interested in Chris Denorfia
By Bryan Rose
The phone has been ringing off the hook this season for the San Diego Padres who’ve been rejecting trades left and right for outfielder Chris Denorfia.
The 33-year-old outfielder has been a bit of a career journeyman, but as one of the hardest working players in Major League Baseball, Denorfia has been the subject of multiple trade rumors this offseason and the Boston Red Sox appear to be the most recent club to express interest.
"While the Red Sox don’t believe they can carry another outfielder, they have expressed some interest in Denorfia, a righthanded bat with a little power who can play center field."
Boston doesn’t have much available room in their outfield without making a move, so the team would likely need to trade an outfielder before making such a deal. However, the Padres have said they have no plans to trade Denorfia as long as they feel they can contend in the National League West.
That might not be very easy though with the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks all improving.
