Minnesota Timberwolves’ Chase Budinger to return Wednesday
The Minnesota Timberwolves will finally have swingman Chase Budinger back in the lineup when they host the Phoenix Suns Wednesday.
Last season, Budinger suffered a knee injury and was limited to just 23 games. He averaged 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 22.1 minutes per game. Although he shot just 41.4% from the field and 32.1% from beyond the arc last year, Budinger is a career 35.1% shooter from the outside, which is one of the reasons the Timberwolves like Budinger.
Despite the injuries, the Timberwolves gave him a three-year, $16 million deal in the offseason.
However, the team found more problems in Budinger’s knee as he prepared for training camp. He had an MRI and more damage was found. Budinger underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to perform a meniscectomy just before the season began.
Over his career, Budinger has averaged 9.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
The Timberwolves and Suns will tip off at 9:30 pm EST.
