The Washington Redskins would have been the highest rated soap opera on network television last season had their franchise been turned into a TV show.

But for all of their issues, at least statistically, their problems weren’t on offense – rather defense.

Regardless, head coach Mike Shanahan and his son, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan were let go after the Redskins pitiful season came to an end. One would have expected defensive coordinator Jim Haslett to be fired as well, considering the Redskins were among the worst in the league on defense – but apparently not.

When Jay Gruden was hired as head coach few weeks back, there were rumors suggesting the Redskins were going to keep Haslett and according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, that’s exactly what will happen.

"Redskins confirm what was reported at the time of Jay Gruden’s hiring – Jim Haslett remains as the defensive coordinator"

Clearly somebody –  be it Gruden or team owner Daniel Snyder have a soft spot for Haslett as performance wise, he didn’t deserve to keep his job.
