Free agent closer Grant Balfour is expected to sign with a new team in the coming days. Where exactly? Well, that’s still a bit of an unknown.

Balfour, who last pitched for the Oakland Athletics had agreed to a contract with the Baltimore Orioles earlier this offseason though the deal was eventually voided after the Orioles said he failed their physical.

The news was shocking to Balfour, who has been relatively healthy in recent years.

That lead to the closer being forced back into the free agent pool and in the weeks since, rumors of his potential destination have remained quiet until recently when the Washington Nationals expressed interest.

Now according to the Washington Post, Balfour is expected to make a decision on where he’ll sign in the coming days:

"We should know soon how serious the Nationals’ interest in Grant Balfour is. Balfour expected to make his decision within a week, if not the coming days, according to a person close to the situation."

The fact that the news comes from the Washington Post is a bit interesting considering the Nationals interest in Balfour, though, as of right now nobody knows where he’s leaning.
