NFL insider Jay Glazer once tried to fight Peyton Manning

I’m not sure you could find a nicer guy in the NFL than Peyton Manning. I mean seriously – go try – I’ll wait.

So it comes as a bit of a shock that Fox’s NFL insider Jay Glazer once attempted to fight the eventual Hall of Fame quarterback.

Glazer, who was profiled for a recent piece in GQ Magazine dropped the interesting nugget, suggesting that he attempted to come to blows with Manning at the 2007 Pro Bowl after the then Indianapolis Colts quarterback made a lighthearted joke about the divorce of New York Giants lineman Michael Strahan.

Strahan and Glazer are of course best friends and the humor didn’t sit well with Glazer as he explained (NSFW language):

"“I took it the wrong way,” he tells me now. “So I said, ‘F#@% YOU, PEYTON. F#@% you.’ I was just fucking screaming at him, yelling at him: ‘I’ll beat your ass. Don’t f#@%ing treat me like a bitch, don’t talk about my friends and their f#@%ing problems. I don’t give a shit who you are, okay? We’re f#@%ing men. Just because you play football and I don’t does not make you any more of a man and does not mean you could beat my ass, because you cannot.’ It was pretty surreal. All of a sudden Peyton’s like, Aw, what did I get myself into?”"

Glazer of course is known for his intense workout and training routines and likely would have smashed Manning into another century had he gotten a hold of him, though nobody would have let that happen unless the two were somehow alone.

It’s a really interesting profile and well worth the read. It also includes a hilarious story about a former NFL player who quit playing football because teammates caught him masturbating in the film room.
