The NFL offseason is ups which means it’s time for teams to start making decisions on what they want to do with their rosters. The Atlanta Falcons were a team many thought would rise to the top again in 2013 but instead we saw the polar opposite.
Now that the offseason is here, Atlanta will be deciding what to do with their expiring contracts and one of those players is Jonathan Babineaux. The Falcons need defensive line help and Babineaux has been with the team his entire career and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that he would like to return to the team.
If Babineaux was to return to the Falcons, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution believes that a modest two or three year deal is what would do the trick, and the only question is would Babineaux get more than that on the open market?
Atlanta looks to be in play or Jadeveon Clowney in the draft, someone that could bolster their frontline immediately by offering a pass rush presence that Babineaux has never really had, but pairing Babinneaux’s run stopping ability with Clowney’s edge rushing presence could be an attractive enough scenario where the Falcons bring back their long time lineman.
The fact that Babineaux wants to re-sign may also lead to a scenario where even without Clowney, the Falcons bring him back because the money makes sense.
