Minnesota Timberwolves’ Rick Adelman to return Wednesday
Minnesota Timberwolves’ head coach Rick Adelman missed the Timberwolves 107-89 loss to the Houston Rockets on Monday night due to “personal reasons.”
This is the second time Adelman has missed time because of personal issues. He missed 11 games in January of last year to tend to his wife, Mary Kay, as she dealt with seizure issues.
With Adelman out, assistant coach Terry Porter took over duties as Timberwolves’ head coach.
”For me and the rest of the coaching staff, it’s the same,” Porter told the Associated Press. ”The consistency that we try to keep with the guys in regards to the game, the flow of the game, pregame stuff, postgame stuff.”
According to the Associated Press, Adelman will return when the Timberwolves host the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.
"Adelman was not at practice on Tuesday, following his absence from the game on Monday against Houston. Assistant coach Terry Porter ran the team instead. But the Timberwolves said Adelman was still expected to return for their game on Wednesday against Denver. That’s the last one on their schedule for a week, due to the NBA All-Star break."
The Timberwolves have fallen to 24-28 on the season.
