NBA Rumors: Minnesota Timberwolves could be interested in Andre Miller
By Brad Rowland
The trade market for Denver Nuggets point guard Andre Miller hasn’t exactly been heating up since he last appeared in a game on December 30th, but according to one report, there is a team with specific interest in the veteran.
ESPN’s Marc Stein indicates that the Minnesota Timberwolves have pointed interest in Miller, and that’s an interesting fit. His caveat that JJ Barea would have to go elsewhere makes sense from a basketball standpoint, but with the rumored swap that would include Chase Budinger heading out of town in exchange for Tayshaun Prince, Minnesota is quite active at the moment.
Miller was unceremoniously suspended back in December for some sort of behind-the-scenes issue with Brian Shaw (details have been sketchy at best), but prior to that absence, the 37-year-old was playing at a relatively high level. He’s certainly not the same star-quality player that he once was, but few guys in the league are in the same class as Miller when it comes to passing, and he’s exceedingly crafty in the right spot.
Keep an eye on the T-Wolves as the deadline approaches, but if they could flip Barea and end up with Miller, that would seem to be a win from a personnel standpoint.
