For days we’ve heard the San Francisco 49ers may have interest in Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson, with some reports even suggesting the two sides held preliminary talks on a potential trade.

San Francisco general manager Trent Baalke says that’s not true however, suggesting that the 49ers have not made any contact with the Eagles in regards to their wideout.

"“Right now, he’s under contract with the Philadelphia Eagles,” Baalke told CSNBayArea.com on Sunday. “We’ve not made any contact with the Eagles relative to a trade for DeSean Jackson.”The 49ers were mentioned in reports last week as a team that called the Eagles to express interest in trading for Jackson.“As of this moment, those reports are totally misleading and false,” Baalke said."

Key phrase right there – as of this moment.

The 49ers have made multiple free agent inquiries on wide receivers this offseason, so it’s clear they’re in the market for another. Now granted, it’s possible Jackson may not be a realistic target given his albatross of a contract and hefty cap hit, but it’s hard to imagine that the 49ers wouldn’t engage the Eagles in trade talks if Jackson is available, as has been reported.
