There are some interesting pieces falling into place as we prepare for the 2014 NFL Draft in two weeks. Not too long after the agent for South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney said his client could potentially do one final workout before the draft, news has surfaced that the Atlanta Falcons will be visiting Clowney for a short workout.
It was exactly the kind of workout that Clowney’s agent suggested he would do with just “a few drills,” according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.
The workout will take place on Friday.
Atlanta currently holds the No. 6 overall pick in the draft so landing Clowney is unlikely if they stay put, but there is a growing belief that the Houston Texans will field trade offers until they are on the clock and the Falcons have been mentioned as a team that would potentially be willing to move up.
With the Falcons so desperately needing to improve their defense, Clowney is an obvious fit for the team.
Whether or not the Falcons will actually trade up for Clowney remains to be seen, but we do know that we will have our answers in just two weeks.
