Despite reports earlier in the day on Thursday that the Atlanta Falcons were no longer one of the top teams considering trading up for the no. 1 pick with the Houston Texans, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is stating that this report is false and they are still in the running to get up there and take over the no. 1 overall slot.

For the past few weeks the Falcons have been said to not only be among the teams willing to trade with the Texans, but they’ve been assumed to be the front runner to do so.

It’s speculated that they would jump up and grab Jadeveon Clowney, whom they have been very interested in as of late. This past week, they brought the former SEC star in for a visit, and even went through a force plate assessment to gauge his durability in the future.

Also on Thursday, Texans GM Rick Smith spoke to the media where his did confirm that he is willing to field offers from teams that are behind him, but for someone like Clowney, that price is going to be very steep.
