NFL Draft Rumors: Jets have talked about trading up to No. 11 with Titans
By Bryan Rose
For weeks we’ve heard the New York Jets could be interested in moving up during the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft but we’ve seen little action suggesting such would happen.
That changed this afternoon as NFL insider Ian Rapoport stated that the Jets had engaged themselves in trade talks with the Tennessee Titans about moving up to the No. 11 pick. Rapoport states that the Titans aren’t the only team the Jets have spoken to however.
"#Jets have reached out to teams about moving up in the first round. They’ve spoken with the #Titans, among others. WRs likely the target."
Both Odell Beckham and Brandin Cooks are possible targets at the Jets’ current No. 18 selection, so a move could either be to improve their odds of selecting one of those players or moving them into possible contention for another wide receiver who may slip a bit.
Of course, the interest in a wide receiver could be nothing more than a smokescreen however the Jets have a few pressing needs with wideout likely topping the list, so that seems doubtful.
It’s not known who else the Jets have contacted or how high they’ve attempted to move up.
In addition to a wide receiver, the Jets are also said to be targeting tight end and defensive back as positions of need.
